Statements

Often, we rely on written descriptions or visual cues to help us remember details of important events throughout our lives. When the physical objects disappear or are forgotten, we are left with only our memory to guide us.  Discarded objects that are based on communication and memory– a letter, a photograph, a video, etc., inform my work.  I utilize obsessive or meditative actions to explore how we classify, organize, and recall the memories and contexts attached to each object. I am primarily interested in the disconnection and/or reconnection to the original object that exists after its function and context are deconstructed.
